South of the Tracks | Degree33 Goes to Baja
The Degree33 team heads south of the boarder to cut loose on a quiver of new Degree33 boards. With a modest, clean swell on the horizon, we frothed at the idea of getting awesome footage of our boards in action. Once the reels came in we realized it wasn't just about the boards or the footage anymore. Watching just a rough edit, filmed and created by our own Jeremy Patterson, we were inspired beyond the idea of a recon mission. This is a glimpse into the heart of surfing. Having surfed our own breaks a thousand times, we've let it become a part of the daily grind. The following short exemplifies the raw soul of surfing in the southwest and reminds us that there is an adventure just around the corner if we choose to look...
It’s fixed. Sorry!
Nice. It looked like a fun day. This brought back a few memories of arriving at Rincon in the middle of the night with a friend, catching a little sleep in his ’64 impala until sun-up then having the place virtually all to ourselves in the morning, shoulder-high. Or similarly, arriving at the crack-of-dawn with a pal up north at Willow Creek and surfing calm glass alone until we were satiated, then sitting on the beach for another hour and quietly watching glassy peaks in their perfect solitude. Sometimes it IS more about the SOUL than the SURFING.
Wow surf AND a 21 window bus!! Yeah it’s hard to believe, but there is a life unplugged. I just want to surf so bad yet here I am in eastern Ky!!?? Just one more reminder that it’s time to make it happen. Like the song says,“some day never comes”. I’ll see you there, surf on! Jim
