If your confidence doesn't build as the swell does you're on the wrong board

Purpose: This is the Poacher's badass big brother. All of the float yet the zip of a speed boat. The Zenith of 45 years of shaping, the speed egg is Bill Minard's coup de grâce to the modern shortboard. For the gifted greenhorn and luminary alike, the Over Easy is a conqueror. Built for building swell, this board brings an advantage to surfers looking to out-paddle the pack and handle the best wave of the set. A fuller nose provides maximum paddle power and early takeoffs where dropping in at the peak usually demands youthful shoulders or more experience. The tapered diamond tail locks your back rail into the face on hairy drops so your confidence level stays sky high. Tapered rails, single-to-double concave and a thruster setup provide hair-trigger rail to rail maneuverability for a board length that would typically require more effort and skill to control.

Designed For: Intermediate (and talented beginners) to Advanced surfers who want to take off at the top of the peak without needing cumbersome board length or mighty shoulder strength.

Sweet Spot: Easy to ride in knee to 2x overhead waves with its true identity revealed in chest high to 3ft overhead waves. The Over Easy shines best in long, peeling faces at your local standout reef/point break.

What was I thinking?

Excellent. Board handles as advertised. I'm 67 and have been resisting buying a longer board. Ego, I guess, though it's not as if I've been slashing/burning waves for the last couple of years. The Egg picks up waves incredibly well, rides and turns easily (3'-5' so far). I'm thrilled... Will only add that there was some discoloration (epoxy?) toward the nose. The shop insisted it was due to shipping and could be cleaned off. Not so. It's under the glass. Anyway, I can live with it. Great board and excellent, responsive shop.

magic board

I have 8 surfboards and this is truly a magic board. It's got volume but I can still duck dive it. It paddles fast, catches waves like a longboard. It has some rocker and can do steeper drops and late drops no problem. It turns easily, obviously not like a 6' board but it feels shorter than it is once you are up to speed. The glass job is excellent, it's both durable and light. It truly shines in head high waves or above with good conditions, and gets into those waves early with a couple easy paddle strokes. Does fine on 2-4 ft chop as well if it's your only board, tho I'd typically reach for my groveler or fish in those conditions. In most good winter conditions (San Diego) this has become my go-to board.

My new 7’6” Over Easy, Degree 33 surf board!

Thanks again to everyone over at Degree 33, and especially to your shaper, Bill Minard for providing me with another sweet board. This is my third board from Degree 33. You all have the magic to get the “wow” factor in every single board you make and deliver. I came to the surfing obsession late in life, but every one of your boards allows me to keep improving. I could not be happier! Cheers. Jeanne

First board

This is the first board I’ve gotten since learning on a soft top longer board. I have used it once so far and can’t wait to go back out and keep progressing.
